Amazon recently acquired Middle East’s biggest marketplace Souq, to refurbish its operations in the Arab countries. Based in Dubai, Souq is a network that connects people and products and opens a world of possibilities for both buyers and sellers. Getting started on Souq
The process of selling on Souq is easier than you can imagine. The first step involves registering yourself as a seller like any other website. The process of registration involves the following steps:
- Contact information
- Account verification
- Order pickup location
- Store name
- Registration overview
Once you have followed all the steps to register and accepted the rules and regulations of the portal, your seller account will be initiated. The next steps involve listing your products and selling them.
Selling on Souq
- List your products
List your product type by selecting the appropriate category where your product belongs. Use the search box to explore an exhaustive list of options. - Select the product
Once you enter the product type, the system will generate a list of matched products from souq.com catalog. You can simply choose the product you want to list. - Listing products through the existing catalog
If you have chosen your product from the existing catalog list on the portal, you do not have to do anything further about the details of the product like specifications, characteristics, images, model, color, description etc. Just add the offer information like price, quantity in stock, condition, and so on to proceed to the next steps. - Listing products outside the catalog
If the products you’re planning to sell are not available in the catalog, simply click on the option ‘Add New Product’ and enter the details and images of your product.
Review and confirmation
Once you complete the offer details, you’ll have to review your submission details. Click on the ‘Confirm Listing’ button if everything looks fine.
Once your products are live on the portal and you receive an order, you’ll be notified through email or you can also verify the orders by logging in to your Souq account. Following the confirmation of an order, you must print an airway bill and prepare your order for pickup by courier.
To receive payments, you’ll have to enter your valid bank account details under the ‘My Account’ section of your seller dashboard. You can request a withdrawal by simply clicking on the ‘Withdrawal’ option and filling in the amount you need to withdraw. The amount will be credited to your bank account within 72 hours.
Souq is available only in the Middle East countries and therefore, it is not possible to sell through the platform from other countries.
